Subject: Stop $1 Billion Worth of Feminist Pork!

January 31, 2012

Attention Friends:

You are receiving this special alert because you live in a state represented by at least one Senator who serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee. We need your help!

Liberals in the Senate are desperate to appease their base to be sure they turn out to vote this November. Thus, as his first act this year, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) is trying to railroad a reauthorization of the feminist pork known as the “Violence Against Women Act” (VAWA) through the Senate Judiciary Committee. VAWA is scheduled to be marked up in a Committee Meeting this Thursday morning, February 2, 2012.

Although VAWA, which Vice President Joe Biden claims as his proudest accomplishment in the Senate, purports to protect women from domestic violence, Angela Moore Parmley, Ph.D., of the U.S. Justice Department admitted that after 17 years and billions of taxpayer dollars, “We have no evidence to date that VAWA has led to a decrease in the overall levels of violence against women.”

That’s because VAWA is designed to advance feminist ideology and to fund radical liberal programs and policies, rather than to actually stop domestic violence and truly help victims.

This year’s bill, S. 1925, increases funding for the ineffective program, which already tops $1 billion per year, and expands programs into high schools and colleges to teach students that men are natural batterers and women are natural victims.

Conservatives have worked hard to secure changes to VAWA to limit taxpayer expense and to make the bill more effective, but Senate liberals have resisted all their efforts.

We need you to call your Senators and tell them VAWA must be amended and that it must be defeated in its current form.

Take Action!

Tell your Senators to vote NO on S. 1925, the “Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2011.”
